Made this poster for my friend Joy Aquino’s film showing tomorrow! Support! Here’s what I got from the facebook invite. ISANG LITRONG LIWANAG Directed by Joy Aquino Special Screening of Documentary | Cultural Center of the Philippines July 26, 2012 3:30pm at the CCP Dream Theater Can a foundation light up one million lives a year? Isang Litrong Liwanag (1 Liter of Light) follows the first efforts of MyShelter Foundation and its volunteers as they journey around the Philippines and to communities in other countries to give solar light to families in a completely unexpected way. From Mindanao and Metro Manila, to the trash pickers of Payatas, to the detainees of Makati City Jail, this documentary shows how the “solar bottle” project has affected individuals and communities and gained global recognition as the first grassroots green lighting program in the world. What started out as an initiative with one carpenter and one set of tools in one town has now become a truly global phenomenon, proving that community-led movements to lead the green revolution from the bottom up is possible and can succeed. Isang Litrong Liwanag shows how everyone can be part of making the world a brighter place to live in. It is an inspiring story about how a developing country is sharing the gift of low-tech, high-impact grassroots empowerment with the rest of the world.
